For more than 30 years, Sam’s Hotdog Stand has boasted authentic American all-beef hotdogs. Sam’s provides high quality, fresh ingredients, fast friendly service - all at a great price.
Founder Frank Lucente grew up in a small town in West Virginia and as a kid enjoyed spicy chili dogs at the town’s hot dog stand. However, that hotdog stand eventually closed.
Frank went as far as to try and convince the former owner of the stand to pass on the recipe, but the owner refused saying he would “take it to the grave.”
Frank kept up the quest and soon discovered the chili sauce recipe first belonged to an elderly woman still living in his hometown. For many years she had been cooking up the sauce and selling it at her church bazaar. So pleased with Frank’s earnest request she gladly provided the original recipe.
Frank adapted, refined and finally perfected the recipe. So when Frank realized he had something truly special, the first Sam’s Hot Dog Stand opened in Huntington West Virginia in 1983…finally ending Frank’s search for the perfect hot dog and starting the legacy known today as Sam’s!
